The D3 is Nikon's first full-frame DSLR to mimic the old 35mm film format. Ken Rockwell has this to say, "Call me a sucker for beauty, as all photographers should be, but I think half of why I want a D3 isn't logic or the photos I could make with it, but simply because it is so beautiful. It makes me want to have and to hold it."

Review:
The first Nikon FX-format camera, the D3, produced a quantum leap in digital photography that forever changed the way professionals are able to work. Now, with the launch of the second Nikon FX-format camera the Nikon D700 you can achieve, in a smaller, lighter design, many of those same extraordinary imaging feats that made the Nikon D3 an immediate legend. Like the D3, the D700 transcends the expectations of the world's leading photographers, in an agile body developed from the award-winning DX-format D300.
In soft, subtle lighting, it captures seductively smooth tones with astonishingly rendered detail easily. In low-lit situations, it delivers virtually poisefree images for impeccable results at up to ISO 6400 easily. And if you're faced with constantly changing lighting conditions, the D700 handles these complex exposure changes with ISO sensitivity auto control easily. When your day is long and demanding and you need to travel light, you'll appreciate this camera's portability, responsiveness and finely balanced handling.
And when you need more speed to capture a crucial moment, the D700 delivers with the option of a multi-power battery pack that gives you up to 8 frames per second, continuous shooting. Whether your subject's fast, slow or still, you'll capture it with tack-sharp precision using Nikon's exclusive 51-point AF system easily. Every aspect of the D700 has been carefully engineered, to provide you with the freedom to work efficiently and with the utmost sensitivity, as a natural extension of your personal vision.
The D700 achieves a remarkable distillation of the finest imaging performance digital photography can offer. The D700's 12.1-megapixel FX-format CMOS image sensor provides exceptional image quality throughout its remarkable ISO sensitivity range. A large pixel size of 8.45 µm allows for an extremely low signal-to-noise ratio and a wide dynamic range. The 12-channel readout enables accelerated information transfer, allowing the D700 to shoot at speeds of up to eight frames per second at full resolution (using the optional MB-D10 Multi Power Battery Pack) and quickly write image data onto the CompactFlash card.
The D700 offers a versatile base ISO range from 200-6400 but can be expanded to range from ISO 100 (Lo-1) to 25,600 (Hi-2) affording photographers the new-found confidence to shoot in the widest variety of lighting conditions from the brightest midday sun to dim interiors. Images previously thought to be impossible to create without complex lighting set-ups or lengthy post-processing are now captured easily and faithfully with the D700, unleashing new and diverse shooting possibilities

Review:
With a 12.3-megapixel sensor, the Nikon D90 rises to the resolution of the more professional D300. It also shares the same sensitivity as the D300, ranging from ISO 200 to 3,200, plus L1 (100) and H1 (6,400). Another essential upgrade on the Nikon D90 is the move to a high resolution 3-inch LCD screen. The 920,000-pixel display has a 170-degree viewing angle and appears to be as nice as the new screens found on the D3 and D300. It makes checking focus and using Live view mode that much more pleasant.
VIDEO recording The Nikon D90 records movies as a Motion JPEG in AVI format at 24 frames per second at what they're calling "720p equivalent" resolution: 1,280 x 720. Other resolutions include 640 x 424, and 320 x 216. Though you have to focus manually, and aperture remains fixed during recording, audio for the videos is captured through the monaural mic on the camera.
Live View New to the intermediate range, Live view offers some new tricks over the mode found on the Nikon D90's high-end predecessors, particularly including Face Detection. Just as we've seen on consumer cameras, in Face Detection mode, a box surrounds detected faces and follows them around the screen. The Nikon D90 can track up to five faces. Live view is activated with a dedicated button just right of the LCD.
Face Detection
Though Face Detection is helpful in Live view mode, its utility goes further, as it's now an integral part of Nikon's Scene Recognition System (SRS). Thanks to the Nikon D90's 420-pixel matrix metering sensor, the SRS can combine color metering with autofocus sensor data and tune white balance and exposure with a particular bias toward getting faces exposed properly. In theory, this should also include making sure the Nikon D90 focuses on an eye rather than a nose or forehead. If true in practice, this is quite an advance. Face detection even comes into play in i-TTL Flash control.

The last time Nikon updated its sub-$1,500 mid-range dSLR, a handful of minor, but certainly welcome, updates gave us the D70s. Now, Nikon has given the camera a serious overhaul, including a new 10.2-megapixel CCD imaging sensor, an 11-area AF system (up from 5), the obligatory larger LCD screen (2.5 inches, up from 2 inches), and a pile of in-camera editing and custom functions. With this newest revision, Nikon has put the camera more in line with its expected audience, which spans lower-end enthusiasts, all the way down to SLR newbies who crave more power than they can get with the company's entry-level digital SLR, the D50.

The D70s is the successor to Nikon's award-winning, best-selling, affordable 6.1-megapixel D70 digital SLR introduced back in 2004. The D70s is well suited for beginning photo enthusiasts, hobbyists and advanced users and offers a combination of superior image quality with robust performance. Just to be sure, the 6.1 megapixel resolution is enough to give you a print size of 11" by 17"... that's probably big enough for most sane purposes!

An FM2 can be found at the bottom of many pro camera bags. The reason? It's a great backup camera. Light in weight, small in size, and capable of working without battery power, the FM2n is a reliable, handy choice for that camera body emergency that always seems to happen when you're a long way from civilization. The FM2 lineage has been so successful that nothing major in the design of the camera has changed in its 24 years of existence and production.

Review:
The AF DX Fisheye-Nikkor 10.5mm f/2.8G ED, an important addition to the DX Nikkor lens lineup, the first fisheye lens designed specifically for digital SLR photography is also the first to achieve a full-frame 180 degree picture angle. The ultra-wideangle focal length of 10.5mm brings digital camera users a picture angle equivalent to that of a 16mm fisheye lens on a 35mm format camera.
The lens is targeted at Nikon DX Format digital SLR camera users who seek the unique visual effects a full-frame fisheye lens lends to landscape and other shots, to taking close-ups, or when shooting within vehicles or other tight interiors.
The AF DX Fisheye-Nikkor 10.5mm f/2.8G ED excels at shooting extreme close-ups. Combining a minimum focus distance of just 3cm (1.2 in.) from the front of the lens with Nikon's Close-Range Correction (CC) System ensures sharp results.

Review:
The Nikon 35mm f2D AF Nikkor is a compact, lightweight wide-angle lens constructed with superb optical design for architecture, wedding, and landscape photography. It features 62-degree (44-degree with Nikon DX format) picture coverage with edge-to-edge sharpness. The perfect lens for the photographer on the go, the fast f2 maximum aperture makes this ideal for low light, hand-held shooting. It also weighs an exceptionally light 7.2 ounces and boasts a 0.85-foot close focusing distance.
To enhance the performance of its optical lens elements, Nikon employs an exclusive multilayer lens coating that helps reduce ghost and flare to a negligible level. Nikon Super Integrated Coating achieves a number of objectives, including minimized reflection in the wider wavelength range and superior color balance and reproduction. Nikon Super Integrated Coating is especially effective for lenses with a large number of elements, like our Zoom-Nikkors.
Also, Nikon's multilayer coating process is tailored to the design of each particular lens. The number of coatings applied to each lens element is carefully calculated to match the lens type and glass used, and also to assure the uniform color balance that characterizes Nikkor lenses. This results in lenses that meet much higher standards than the rest of the industry.

One user commented: I'm a profesionally trained photographer. I've used old manual focus, split focusing cameras and lenses. Now, if I have to bring one lens out on a shoot with me, it's the 50mm f/1.4. The focal length is just enough where the distortion at the edges of photos will be unnotoicable. The aperature (f stop) is low enough to blur out the background and gives you the ability to shoot in low light conditions without blur or a flash. If you are around four feet to your subject, the intended focus area will be super sharp and an inch away will start to lose focus. These traits are ideal for portraits and make this lens reliable in almost any situation.

This is absolutely the premier lens for portraitures. This lens is impressively sharp even wide open. Its bokeh (out of focus characteristics) is amazing - gradual and fast defocus, smooth colors, highlights are round, you don't see the diaphragm blades, perfect. Tones, specially skin tones, are exceptionally featured on this lens. It's a full frame lens, so it's a perfect couple with the new Nikon D3 (full frame body) for model shoot!

The AF Nikkor 105 mm f/2.8D Macro was introduced as a native AF-D lens. It also employs a 'floating element's design (CRC) in ensuring its excellent image quality be extended from far to its minimum focusing distance where the maximum reproduction of 1:1 is realized. Further, this dedicated close-up lens has been treated with the enhanced Nikon SIC (Super Integrated Coating) which ensures high-contrast images with minimum effects of ghosting and flare, with additional overall brilliance of colour balance delivered. It has also been fitted with a focus limiter which serves the same function as the previous focusing lock on the manual focus 105mm model where the feature allows setting a previously selected focusing range.

The Nikon 14-24mm is the world's first f/2.8 ultra-ultra wide angle zoom. This huge, record-setting lens is designed for ultra-ultra wide angles on film and full-frame FX digital SLRs, which means that 14mm is an insanely wide 14mm equivalent, a 114 degree diagonal angle of view. 14-24mm on FX is equivalent to a 9.2 - 16mm lens on a conventional DX digital Nikon. This new offer pairs up perfectly well with the new Nikon D3 full frame body, but it is also equally versatile with traditional film-based cameras such as the evergreen FM2!

Some lenses become legends within their own lifetime, so highly regarded they become by their lucky users. The Nikon 17-35mm f2.8F ED AF-S is one of those lenses. It is a full-frame lens and arguably one of the best of the wide angle zooms Nikon has produced. Perhaps the sharpest wide angle zoom you can get for a Nikon body. Review:
The Nikon 17-55mm f2.8G ED-IF AF-S DX is the world's first constant f2.8 3.2x zoom lens developed exclusively for use with Nikon DX Format. The 3.2x zoom covers from a wide angle of 79 degrees to a narrow angle of 28 degrees 50 minutes (equivalent to 25.5mm to 85.5mm for 35mm format) and is ideal for architecture, landscape, groups shots and portraits. DX design enables a combination of wider angle-of-view with optical characteristics that are optimized for Nikon digital SLR camera sensors. Nikon DX design produces a smaller image circle (the size of the image that is projected by the lens on to the sensor) enabling smaller lens diameter, lighter weight, and optimal image quality from center-to edge-to-corner on the image.
Three Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass elements minimize chromatic aberration and provide higher resolution and superior contrast. Three aspherical lens elements minimize distortion in a lightweight and compact design similar to 17-35mm f2.8 lens. This is by far the most popular lens we have!

The Nikon AF-S Zoom Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED Autofocus Lens is a fast aperture standard zoom lens designed for photojournalism and general photography. Optimized for edge-to-edge sharpness on both the Nikon FX (full-frame) and DX-format image sensors, this lens also includes two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) elements and PGM aspherical lenses that help control chromatic aberrations while enhancing sharpness and contrast, even at the widest aperture settings. The Silent Wave Motor (SWM) feature provides swift autofocus with superior accuracy and ultra-quiet operation. This G-type lens does not feature an aperture ring on the lens body, resulting in a lighter and more compact lens. Aperture changes are designed to be done via the camera's command dial.
Ken Rockwell had rave reviews about this lens, "My tests show it (the 24-70mm lens) is the sharpest normal zoom ever made by Nikon, but we expect that since its the newest and most expensive. I'm surprised that the new 24-70mm Nikkor is obviously so much better than other lenses. When I ran comparisons against cheaper and older lenses, I fully intended to see the old stuff be about the same. Nope, the 24-70mm outdoes them all."
Nikon 24-120mm f3.5-5.6 VR AFS (FX)

Comes with: UV filter, lens hood, front & rear caps
Review:
The Nikon AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED is Nikon's first wide-angle lens to feature the Vibration Reduction (VR) technology. Vibration Reduction allows the equivalent of shooting the lens at a shutter speed 3 stops faster. This reduces the effect of camera shake, especially in low light conditions.
The focal length of 24-120 mm translates into a focal length of approximately 36.5-182 mm for digital cameras like the Nikon D70. The use of two aspherical lens elements reduces the amount of distortion while two ED lens elements were used to reduce chromatic abberation.
This is a great carry-around lens. It's compact, relatively light and well-balanced. You won't have any problems using it handheld for long periods of time. Good news for travellors!

The 18-200mm f3.5-5.6G IF-ED AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor lens is a compact, lightweight, 11.1x zoom lens that is ideal for high-performance, everyday photography from wide landscapes to tight portraits and action photography. Advanced Nikon engineering has lent the lens a compact, lightweight design that offers excellent handling characteristics and superb optical quality.
Beyond the lens's incredible optical versatility is the benefit of Enhanced VR II Vibration Reduction, an innovation that makes it possible to take substantially sharper handheld pictures at slower shutter speeds than would otherwise be possible. This provides the distinct advantage of being able to shoot more effectively in a much broader variety of challenging conditions. With the new Nikon VR II advantage, users can take pictures at shutter speeds as many as 4 stops slower than they ordinarily could shoot without the image-degrading blur associated with camera shake at slow shutter speeds.

With a focal length coverage of 80-400mm (5:1 zoom ratio), this is a extremely useful lens for bird and sports photographers. The Vibration reduction is clearly it's major feature and allows the photographer far greater ability to take handheld shots at shutter-speeds that would usually result in considerable blur from camera shake. Have a go at this bazooka!

This lens covers focal lengths from 24mm ultra wide angle to 70mm medium telephoto and provides a large f2.8 aperture at all focal lengths. Its design employs three (3) aspherical lens elements to minimize spherical aberration, astigmatism and sagittal comma flare. The use of two (2) SLD (The Special Low Dispersion) glass elements results in excellent correction of chromatic aberration and provides a high level of optical performance and 24-70rnm F2.8 EX ASPHERICAL DG DF has high contrast and resolution. The lens also incorporates Dual Focus mechanism. It is easy to hold the lens, since the focusing ring does not rotate during auto focusing, and yet provides a wide focus ring for easy to use manual focus. Since the front of the lens does not rotate, it allows the use of a flower shaped "Perfect Hood" and facilities the use of polarizing filters. The lens materials used in this lens are lead and arsenic free ecological glass.
