CRCares - Our Take on Corporate Social Responsibility
At Camera Rental Centre, our commitment to the community extends beyond supporting the media industry. We believe creativity should be accessible to everyone - regardless of background, experience or resources. We are committed to playing our part in nurturing people behind the lens.
Over the years, we have supported a wide range of initiatives across the arts, education and community sectors. From partnering with organisations to supporting independent creators, our goal is to lower barriers to entry and help bring creative ideas to life.
- Supporting the Arts & Creative Community
We collaborate with arts organisations and cultural programmes that celebrate music, film and visual storytelling. This includes supporting programmes such as the ever popular Cargo Lift Session by Esplanade, which showcases local and international artists performing in an initimate and unconventional space. We have also provided continued support of photography initiatives such as the Baybeats Budding Photographers programme, helping and gearing up your photographers as they gain real-work experience documenting musicians and live music, in a festival setting.
Beyond established programmes, we regularly support emerging musicians and local artists who require equipment to film music videos, like Benjamin Kheng, Kit Chan, hauste, RENE and Jimpanzee. We have also provided support to the media team and participants of the Lion City Dance Film Festival, Grapplemax, Singapore National & Open Jump Rope Championship, and a youth filmmaking club Seni Sini for their workshops.
We have geared up the team behind Rice Media for their coverage of the General Election 2025. The same year, we collaborated with Our Grandfather Story, for 3 original short films made by young Singaporean filmmakers on "Love Is...", exploring how Singaporeans love in our own awkward and quiet ways.
We have also support local creative groups like The Brindin' and Unpaid Nerds, with their passion projects,
- Empowering the Next Generation
Education plays a key role in shaping the future of the creative industry. We support students from film schools, polytechnics and universities by providing equipment sponsorships or discounted for final year films, student led productions and film competitions like NTU's ADM Rush. We have also supported NUSPS Photofairs, CDL and Deck's Singapore Young Photographer Award, These opportunities allow students to experiment, collaborate, and gain hands-on experience with professional equipment as they take their first steps into the industry.
We have also support passion projects and short films like MURK!, Beyond The Other Shore, The 4PLY Clandestine System, Terpisah and Redha.
- Community & Inclusive Creative Learning
We believe photography and filmmaking can be powerful tools for expression and connection. Through partnerships with community groups and social organisations such as Holdinghands Studio, Allkin Singapore, Trybe and Depths Magazine we support creative workshops and programmes for:
- Children from lower-income families
- Youth navigating mental health challenges
- Senior citizens learning photography
These initiatives provide a safe and encouraging environment for participants to explore creativity and build confidence through storytelling.
- Supporting Diverse Voices
We are proud to support projects and initiatives that celebrate diversity and inclusivity with the creative community. This includes supporting productions for Pink Dot and creative works such as the series 'People Like Us', which highlight stories and voices from the LGBTQ+ community. By supporting diverse creators and narratives, we hope to contribute to a more inclusive and representative creative landscape.
Our founders believe deeply in giving back and showing up for the community - values that continue to guide us today. Through partnerships, sponsorships and mentorship, we remain committed to supporting the creative ecosystem that has supported us. Because when individuals are empowered, the entire community grows.
